Hi,

I've a server with 3 nics
I want to put 2 of these nics in NLB.
Its a Win 2003 ent edition server

My steps:
1. opening NLB manager
2. Cluster -> new
3. IP address: 192.168.1.99 / 255.255.255.0 / nlb.mydomain.local / multicast
enable
4. I select the "Local area network 2" (with an IP address set to
192.168.1.3)
5. (host parameter page) Priority is set to 1; dedicated IP unchanged
(192.168.1.3)
6. Click Finish
I wait for the end of the pending operation
All is ok

Now I try to add a new host in the cluster:
1. Cluster -> Add host
2. I select the server and when I try to select the "local area network 3" I
can't !!!!!

The local area network 2 is selected, and I can't select any other NIC in
the list.

any idea ?

thanks.

Jerome.

NLB clusters consist of more than one "server" that share a common IP
address - not network adapters. A typical NLB would be two or more cloned
servers running a website. All servers in the cluster share a common virtual
mac address on "one" of the server's network adapters. The Windows 2003
Deployment Kit has great papers on how to build a NLB cluster. --- Steve

oups

wrong understanding on my side ;-)

I've understand that I can use 2 NICs on the SAME server in NLB mode to
share the network traffic between these 2 NICs

there is any way to do this?
So I want 200mbps (2 nics at 100mbps) instead-of 100mbps

That sounds like network adapter teaming. I have never tired that but
believe from what I have read that it might be able to be done but it would
have to be worked out with the manufactures software. Sorry I can not be of
more help on that topic. --- Steve
