cannot activte Client for Microsoft and File and printer sharing

OS : XP
I can ping the router
I can ping yahoo.com
I can ping other work station
but I cannot activate file and printer sharing under local area connection

when I select File and Printer sharing and I click ok
if I go back file and printer sharing will not be checked ??


i uninstall and re install the NIC driver same result
I cannot save this setting >>?

is this a firewall Issue >? SP2 is not installed
but Norton is installed

the system was working fine few days ago

What other protocals/services do you have bound to that adaptor?.and can you
add/remove them without issue?

I assume you have tried selecting install>service>add> etc etc after first
removing it

What user rights are you logged on with?

This could I guess be a TCP/IP issue (try c:\>netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt)
- clutch at straw...lol
