Hi all,

Thank you for your help in advance. Little urgent as it is for my Police
Depart... the most demandging one

Here is the situation.

I have a R2 app server joined the domain. I can ping it by the name from a
pc. I also have XP workstation joined the domain here. DNS settings are
correctly setup on both clients and server. If I tried to access the R2 from
a workstation by typing \\WindowsR2\share_name (or just \\windowsR2), it
would tell you an error message saying The account is not authorized to log
in from this workstation. I believe the workstation is up-to-date. I think
this is the same to the R2 as well. What this happen? and how to solve it?

I make sure it is in a right OU.

One funny thing is that I have a laptop which is not joined the domain...
but just in a workgroup. But from there, I CAN access to the R2. After typing
in the \\windowsR2\sharename, it would pop up a logon windows then I typed in
my domain log on info and it would work.

Why?? Thank you for your help.

Bobson

Hello,

did you remove the Start/run through GPO ?
Do you have the issue if mapping it as a network drive ?

As the same account work from an external computer, the only main difference
i see is GPO.

Did you change the default members of local group on the R2 ?
Is it in the same OU as others servers that work ?

Hi Mathieu,

Thank you very much for your response!! In fact, you are right. It was the
GPO issue. I moved it yesterday right after I just finished submitting the
question here.

Thank you very much again for your response!
