Hi all,

I have Small Business Sever 2003 Server with about 15 pc
in my network. All the PC uses window 2000 pro OS. From
the server I logged in as the admin when I browse to the
network and then to a pc that's in my network. I keep
getting an error about the admin account do not have
permission to access that particular computer. I check
each individual pc and the C$ is shared, but some how from
when I tried to run \\pcname\c$ the server, it doesn't
work. I added the domain admin to the administrator group
and it still not working.

I have shared folder on the server and all 15 pcs were
able to connect to it with no problem.

Can anyone help me please ...

Thank you in advance,

Ed

Have all 15 pc's joined the domain? Only other time I've had that problem
is when administrator/password on the server does not match the
administrator/password on the PC if they are not part of the domain. Once
they matched I could access c$ fine. Also if the pc's are running any type
of firewall that could be blocking access to c$.

all 15 pc's joined in one domain. I log on to the pc by
using the admin/password on the server account. I was able
to log in just fine. None of the pc have any type of
firewall install on it.

The strange thing is that admin on the server belongs to
the domain admin group, even if i add the domain admin to
the administra group on the pc, it still not working.

Do you have an IPC$ share on the server?

When you logon to the PC do you logon locally or through the domain? That
is why I keep a administrative account setup locally that matches a admin
account on the network. Because the \\pc\c$ is setup to be local
administrative only. Even if the domain admin group is added to c$ security
I've still needed a similar admin account locally to connect. For example
bad example but example

Domain login - GOD
password - IAMTHEGOD

Local login on each pc set as administrative access - GOD
password - IAMTHEGOD

Try something stupid like that on the PC and see it lets you connect.
Unless someone else has a better idea.

Jeremy,

Thanks for the tips. I figured it out yesterday. It turns
out that my server that runs SBS 2003 had a different time
zone. I dont know if anyone has this problem before, but
my server was on Central America Time Zone for some
reason. The rest of the client PCs are on Central Time (US
& Canada). That's the reason why I wasn't able to browse
to any client PCs. Once i changed the time zone then
everything seems to be working just fine.

Ed
