Can a Wireless game adapter be used as a bridge?

I have a computer that I want to (wirelessly) connect to a wireless
router.

I have an xbox wireless game adapter that is designed to connect an
xbox to a wireless network.. my question is, can I use this same game
adapter on a pc? The game adapter has an rj45 port, so it would be
just a matter of connecting it to the computer via a patch cable... the
only thing is that I've been told I need a "bridge" inorder for my
computer to see the wireless network. Is that true?

Don't know about the Xbox thing, but game adapters are often called a
bridge. I have an Belkin F5D7330 bridge/game adapter that works with
anything that accepts an ethernet plug.

Hi...

I have my XBox going through a (DLink) "Wireless-Ethernet Bridge".

"Wireless-Ethernet Bridge" and "Wireless Game Adapter" are more or less the
exact same thing, at least with regular home consumer stuff and brands like
DLink, Linksys, ect. They just started using "Wireless Game Adapter"
instead of "Wireless-Ethernet Bridge" stickly for marketing.

So, yes, it should work fine...

Unless...

Is this a Microsoft "Wireless Game Adapter" that is stickly for the XBox?
If so, I'm never used one, but always assumed that they were configured
through the XBox dashboard using some proprietary means. Can it be
configured by other means? If not, you'll have to use the XBox to config
the thing where you want it before being able to use it. (Then have to use
the XBox again to reconfig should settings get lost by, say, a power loss.)
Try google.

I'll assume that you can't read the label and are unable to identify
the model of your Xbox wireless game adapter and wireless router. I'll
assume it's the Microsoft MN-740 Xbox wireless device. Is this
correct?

Yes. There's nothing unique about it that ties it to the xbox. It's
basically a "wireless ethernet client bridge".

Yep. I'm fairly sure a straight through cable will work. Check the
lights on the computer ethernet card and MN-740 to be sure the wiring
is correct. If they don't light up, build a "cross over" ethernet
cable.

Chuckle. *ALL* 802.11 wireless is bridging. That's one word that has
been grossly misused. Yeah, you need a bridge, but the MN-740 and
just about everything else you can buy as a wireless client radio is
really a bridge under all the buzzwords and advertising lingo.
