I am trying to help a friend set up a Windows XP laptop to connect to
Wanadoo BB wirelessly. They have a Wanadoo BB account all set which
works over ADSL with the provided smart-touch wanadoo modem. They were
advised to buy teh wanadoo LiveBox wireless modem but that has never
worked for them. They were then told to buy aregular wireless router -
so chose a G class Belkin. I have set up a cable router in past and
that is OK, seems similar idea and I can get Router to connect to PC
OK, but using teh Belkin wizard and typing in the Wanadoo username and
password does not allow teh router to connect to wanadoo through ADSL
line.
Is it possible to use a G or B class router to connect to Wanadoo
without the smart touch modem?
Does anyone have a list of steps I should take to set the PC up to
connect via wireless connection to router and through to Wanadoo via
ADSL telephone line.
I am aware of most troubleshooting tips (I think) having read teh
Wanadoo web site and some newsgroups but cannot get definitive advice
on whether standard wireless set up from PC to Router to Wanadoo
(without smart touch modem) is possible.
Seems weird that the connection dialogue box for smart touch modem
requires my friends home tel number to connect instead of an ISP
connect number?
Any help appreciated.
Chris.
