################################################## #############
I have a PIPEX sllo 512 account.

I have a new PSTwo with built in network.

What i need to know is can i connect my Free modem somehow?
(SpeedTouch 330) With my PS2?

I have a RJ45 cable (straight cat5)

I also have a `TUT SYSTEM MXL-2300` from a business i used to run. Can
this be used without connecting to the PC (as i don`t have the drivers
for it anymore(serial scratched off-so i can`t download tham anymore
without it))

The SpeedTouch 330 only has a `RJ11` port, so can i get a RJ45 to RJ11
cable(or make one (RJ11 pins 1-4 = RJ45 pins 1-4)) to plug my
Speedtouch modem to the PS2`s RJ45 port?

If i need to use the TUT router, i can simpy plug the RJ45 from it to
the PS2. But how do i config the PS2? Do i just use my `PIPEX` name
and password, etc to config the PS2?

I hav`nt got the NETWORK disk through yet from Sony, so i can`t
connect yet. But it will be here soon.

Probebly sound really stupit, but i have never delved into console
networking b4.
PLease HELP

TIA
GAZ

Short answer....

Ditch the Speedtouch and buy a cheap 4 port ADSL Router.

Can be got for around £20 to £30 if you look in the right places.

You can then connect both PC and PS2 to the router.

Be warned, getting the right combination of ports open which forward
to your PS2 is a nightmare. Well, there are 5 separate holes you need
to open in the firewall, so seems pretty naff. And the PS2 network
gaming experience is astonishingly bad in my opinion.

A lot of peeps say that Xbox is the way to go for online games (or a
PC..) and I'm beginning to agree. I don't own an Xbox, but won't be
playing PS2 online any more, it's just too much like hard work.
