can i use a BT wireless router with NTL broadband

Hi,

Have had a bt voyager wireless router on BT for a few years, have just
moved house to an NTL cable area. and now have their broadband service.
Will my old voyager box connect up to the cable modem and work ok or do
i need a new wireless router?

I don't think so. I assume this BT box routes the ADSL line, which is
something your new place won't have.

It won't work as a router on NTL cable broadband. You could use it as
a wireless access point in combination with a cable-compatible
router, but it would be neater to get same with wireless built-in.

You don't say which Voyager router you have.
Some of them are ADSL only which won't work, some are cable/DSL which will
work.

What's the model number?

it is a voyager 2000. i tried connecting it to the cable modem last
night. and althought it spits out a good signal and my laptop receives
a good one. it doesn't translate into web access.

so i think i'm off to see Mr Belkin!

Yes I think that is best as the 2000 is ADSL only.

If it had been the BT Voyager 1500 it would have worked fine on cable.
