Hi

I have some Voyager 2000 routers that i would like to test, the are said to
be faulty ie not connecting to PC.

what would i need to test each one quickly, would it just be a wireless card
connected to a PC / laptop or would i need more than one PC to test with.

I really have no idea what im doing and bought these so I could learn a
little about networking etc

many thanks

AR

Its not a good idea to start learning about networking using suspected
dodgy kit because you'll never know whether its the kit or some
settings thats the problem.

Opinions personal, facts suspect.

a laptop with a wireless card and an ethernet port would allow you to
connect and test both wired and wireless connections

a review at
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware...q3/bt-2000.asp tells
you a bit about the unit

you could power it up and try to "open the URL http://voyager.home
which should translate to http://192.168.1.1 if the router is at the
factory default settings" via the ethernet cable then see if the
wireless card picked any signal up and if it worked as a TCP/IP link

you would need an ADSL enabled line to test the ADSL modem functions
