Hi, Just want to check that I'm thinking along the right lines:

Ordered wanadoo broadband a week last Thursday, and got the livebox on
Thursday.
Anyway - couldnt get the Livebox to work, so tried a Speedtouch 330
broadband modem, which I cant get to connect yet - the box says no
dialtone..

One of the lights on the modem is green and steady, the other is green
and flashing. I am guessing that the green flashing means it is not
getting the broadband "stuff" from the socket end, and when it goes
steady, it is.

Am I correct? I am hoping that the 10 days for connection are up on
Monday - so we'll see what happens.

Many Thanks.

Try connecting direct to the master socket without any filter or phones
connected.

Is there any reason you can't phone the ISP direct? You must have some
details and order number from them together with a letter explaining what
happens next. I doubt anyone here works there and can check for you. With
a 330 the flashing green light means it can't synchronise, so no ADSL, the
USB one just shows the PC is on and ready. Plug the modem into the main
phone socket through the filter provided. You might just have to wait the
agreed time you were told when ordering. Sit back and put the kettle on, it
will work !

Most decent ISPs will do a few things

i) Tell you when your line has been tested and if the line is capable of
supporting the service you have ordered.

ii) Tell you a date when the line is to be activated.

Have you given Wanadoo a correct email address where you can be
contacted? Have they sent you a confirmation on the date when you will
be connected?

Yes you are correct.
Remember that the 10 days is an estimate, not a promise. Take it to mean
'Please let us know if you haven't got broadband by then'.
The email telling you that all is well will come a day or two after you
get the steady light (activation) as the BT bod has to enter that the
job is done, BT then tell the ISP and then the ISP has to notice and set
the bot to send you the mail.
