Can share C:, but not D:

I have small business server 2003, I can share the c:
drive for my clients apps, but I can't get the server to
let us access the files or copy to the folders in the D:
for our data files. The settings look identical for the
two.

The only way that i have found to share your D: drive is
in Server Management and set it as share, then give
permissions to whoever you want.

I did share the D:, but it keeps puts a faint checkmark in
read-only, it won't keep the setting. I'm lost
