How can I set up microsoft networking?

I am having trouble setting up the logon password screen
for microsoft networking. How do I go about enabling this?

Also, my MN700 does not work with my new dsl router
modem. When working modem is plugged into the base, the
computer does not acknowledge that there is a network
connection. The installation wizard does not detect it
either.
