Hi. This is an old problem but I am still trying to determine the cause and
fix needed. I gave up on my Windows ICS and Network with my Windows XP Pro
computer and started over with a linksys router setup.
Computer A (Windows XP Pro)
Computer B (Windows ME)
Computer C (Windows ME)
Computer D (Windows 98 SE)
All show up in workgroup. All but one Windows ME can be accessed and
shared. The problem is with Computer C. I can ping Computer C but I get the
do not have permission yada yada yada message when I try to browse it in the
Workgroup. No Firewall problems, No real difference in TCP/IP setup between
Computer B and C (both Windows ME). Have searched and tried all KB and
NGrps for solution. Enabled print and network on all, shared drives on all,
checked install of Netbios IPX/SPX, checked subnet, checked connections,
checked client for MS Networks, checked everything I can think of. Any help
out there?

Remove IPX/SPX from all computers. Using more than one protocol, on
even one computer, can make browsing a Windows network unreliable.
TCP/IP, by itself, is sufficient for both Internet access and
file/printer sharing.

Thanks Steve,

I tried removing IPX/SPX from all computers but it did not fix the problem.
It does seem that the access is faster on the computers that do share
however. Computer C still refuses to allow the other computers to see its
shared c: drive and printers however. Seems weird that Computer C can see
and share all the other computers and printers though. I can still access
Computer C with pcAnywhere as well as ping it by IP and its name too.

Hi Carey,

I have seen your netfixes before and tried them for this problem. No help,
sorry.

Really? You moved the location of NIC? Swapped cable? Reset the connection?
Tried a different hub/switch/router?
