It could be that the Westell wireless is set to only allow connections only
at "G" speeds and your Laptop does not support "G" speeds. Or it could be
that your Laptop is set to only connect at "G" speeds and the access point
does not support "G" speeds. Another option is you Westell may have Access
list enabled where the MAC address of your laptop must be registered with
the Westell before it can connect.
