Does any one has experience with OpenAir (2.4GHz FHSS) equipments (Proxim
RangeLAN2 products) operating at close range (side-by-side) with 802.11,
specifically 802.11b, products?

From my research, the was only one report in 2000 saying BlueTooth (also
FHSS) does NOT cause conflict with 802.11b, but I have read somewhere else
saying "No BlueTooth" around 802.11... so who is (was) right?

They can interfere with one another. If memory serves, however, on the
Intermec Access Points (which is what I assume you have give you used the
term "Open Air") allow you to choose a channel. So, just make sure you
choose channels that are at least 5 channels apart and you should be fine.

On the other hand, if you were using Symbol Spread Spectrum technology, you
would have more trouble since they try to use the whole 2.4 to 2.5 Ghz
range.

It is a Proxim access point and client adapter. On the access point there
are 15 channels, but in FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) that just
means 15 different hop patterns, it still use the entire 2.4-2.5GHz range.
For DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum), picking 5 channels apart
(1,6,11) is correct.

Openair (Rangelan FH or Harmony) will pummel 11b
Openair will survive if the 2 are mixed, but with low throughput..
well let me resay.. lower thoughput than the normal.
11b will not survive... What is worse, is that 50% of all openair AP's are
500mw output and really hurt not only 11b, but my 2.4ghz phone as well

I have run 802.11 (802.11FH) along side of 11b, and although not getting
ultimate
performance, the 11b survived..

11b will survive with bluetooth if you choose a set of channels away from
the bluetooth stuff..

OpenAir.. you are out of luck.
