I have a W98SE PC connected with a NIC thru a Linksys WRT54G router to an ISP
cable modem. and was been working fine.
Recently, I mistakenly removed the W98 VPN network adapter from CONTROL
PANEL-SYSTEM - DEVICE _ HARDWARE MANAGER without first removing VPN from
CONTROL PANEL-SYSTEM-ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS.

I Re-installed VPN but now I can not see my routers IP address nor can I
release and renew the IP address using winipcfg or ipconfig. I can PING my
computer to verify that I have TCP/IP and have checked arp - a which says
that my cache is empty.

Do I need to re-install W98SE or can I get myself out of this mess in an
easier way?

Is the machine still getting its IP address via DHCP?

The e-mail address in our reply-to line is reversed in an attempt to
minimize spam. Our true address is of the form che...@prodigy.net.

I will have to check when I get home tonight . I also remember that there
was no Tx LED activity from computer at RJ 45 plug on NIC but there is
activity (blinking) from router.

I found out what the problem was. I had a dial up adapter that had a
conflicting IRQ. I disabled it.
