i have a particular user, that i have to disjoin from the domain to a work
group, then log off and log back on to the domain atleast 3 or 4 times a week.

i can not find anything isolated to just her, other than it is just her, to
explain this problem. having never really messed around with logs and such,
is there some place i can look to see why it is losing contact with the
domain and has to be readded?

thanks

Hello Jerry,

You are mixing 2 options, either you has a workstation to remove from domain
or you have problems with a specific user account. Please be more specific.

Why are you rejoin the workstation? What are the symptoms for this, please
describe in detail.

Best regards

Sorry, its still early here

on our network, everyone is connected to the domain. from time to time,
this particular user, when she starts her PC in the morning, can not connect
to the domain. to date, to fix this, i disjoin her from the domain by
joining to a work group, log off and then log back on as the admin, joining
her to the domain once again, and then logging off and letting her log back
on. she then can connect to the domain and pull down the scripts and see all
the network drives etc..

hope this is a bit clearer for you, and again, thanks

Hello Jerry,

So you are not talking about her, you mean the workstation from her. Ok,
first would be nice to hear about DNS in your domain, how is it setup. Also
post an unedited ipconfig /all from the DNS server and the problem workstation.
I assume that you have checked that NIC drivers on the workstation are uptodate.

What OS do you use in the servers and the client?

Best regards

Two suggestions...

1. Make sure that the DNS of this workstation is using the AD DNS as it's
primary DNS.

2. Try removing the workstation from the domain.
The change the workstation name.
Remove the old COMPUTER entry from ActiveDirectory.
Leave this alone overnight.
In the morning, re-join the workstation do the domain.

Sometimes I have found that removing/rejoining the domain too quickly does
not give AD time to propogate everything.
Changing the name should not make a difference (since the SID is the same),
but I've found that it helps.

Good luck.
