can not access internet

I have a network setup with about 20 pc...i have
configured a new machine exactly the same as the
others...i am running 10/100 tcp/ip and i can see the
other machines on the network but i can not access the
internet...i can ping the gateway but i cannot get
out...help

In the first instance I would temporarily turn off my firewalls.

I have no firewalls running....unless MSN installs a
firewall..

- Remember that some virus scanners include firewalls.
- Have you checked your IE6 Proxy server setting?
- Did you set IE6 to "auto-detect"?
- Can you ping sites by number? (e.g. Google -
216.239.33.99, or www.attglobal.net - 32.97.166.74)

yes, i have set ie to auto detect and i can ping google by

If you can ping by IP number but not by name then
your domain names are not properly resolved. Check
your domain name server settings.

my dns settings are exactly the same as the other
computers on my network...i even reentered them and
nothing...is there somewhere else that windows can get the
dns info from besides tcp/ip properties under network
neighborhood
