Can ncftp overwrite files when running in the background?

I'm running ncftp in the background using bgput commands.
When the local file to be transferred already exists on the remote
machine ncftp tries to append - which fails ( and it's not what I want
it to do anyway ).
I want it to overwrite the remote file by default.
Can any one tell me if/how I can convince ncftp to do this?
Thanks in advance,
Richard

"man ncftp" and search for "overwrite"

If you have it running in the background, you may want to try 'ncftpput'.

I believe its default behavior is to overwrite if the file exists, at
least that is how I'm using it, and it works perfectly.

hope that helps,
K
