I used to have DSL and a wireless network at home, but I discontinued the
DSL, then only used the router to swap files between laptop and desktop.

Then the other day, my laptop was kind enough to tell me it had found a new
wireless network (presumably a neighbors- I asked around and still don't
know). Bingo- full signal. :-)

Is there anyway that I can make my Netgear MR814 act as just a 'receiver' in
order to get my desktop (plugged into it) online?

Wireless cards are cheap I know, but its the principal of course ;-)
