Can I login into Domain server throught NAT/PAT device?

Hi,
I'm trying to use a spare Barricade (SMC7004VBR) Cable/Dsl Router for
segmenting the LAN in substitution of a two NICs WindowsNT server. The
problem is that the barricade does NAT (or actually PAT - port address
translation). Then the PCs (Windows 98) that are located behind the
barricade are seen as an unique IP address: the IP of the Barricade's
internal lan NIC. Apparently it causes that these PCs couldn't login into
the domain server (Windows 2000) locate outside the Barricade.
Is it any way I can make these PCs to login into the domain server despite
the NAT/PAT translation?

Thanks in advance

Can't you turn off the NAT/PAT ? It is only required if you use the
router as an Internet router. It is not required for a LAN router. You
obviously don't need it, because NT4 didn't have it!

It's just the point! We can't find the way to disable NAT on the Barricade.
Does anybody knows how to do that?

Thanks
Faustino

Google for "SMC7004VBR" and see the instructions.

http://www.smc.com/drivers_downloads...004VBR_MN2.pdf

I'm not reading anything on page 22 to "turn off" NAT, though the
documentation does mention something about Port-Triggered forwarding for
"Special Applications" -- seems like it's designed to poke a hole through
the NAT. Try that.

I have a different SMC router (SMC7004AWBR) and it looks like you can
disable the NAT by turning off the "Advance Hacker Monitorig and Logging"
option under Advance/Firewall.

have you checked that you have the latest firmware for your router
http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?sec=Sup...rod=257&site=c

sometimes a firmware upgrade gives you access to extra settings

Have you tried asking SMC? Perhaps they could even help you out with a
firmware upgrade (if needed).
Chris
