I am considering moving to Maidstone, I am aware that the Maidstone
exchange has been upgraded for ADSL, but am also aware that a house
must be within 5km of the exchange (interms of signal quality etc).
I am loathed to trust the BT website where you enter you phone number
or postcode as I entered the number of a relative who lives in
Maidstone and has broadband and was told sorry you are too far from
the exchange!
My questions are...
1) How can I accurately tell if a house is suitable for broadband?
2) Are there any areas of Maidstone that are known to be too far from
the exchange?
3) Does anyone know physically where the in Maidstone the Maidstone
exchange is - as if its right at the north of Maidstone then its
highly unlikely the a house right at the south of Maidstone will work.
etc..
4) If I buy a house that is too far from the exchange are their any
alternatives to get fast internet access? (if so then how much do they
cost?)
Thanks for any help
