What can I do to get both the RTV and Xbox to receive a DHCP IP from the WGA54G??

I have a wireless WRT54G Linksys router (upstairs office) and I also have a
WGA54G wireless gaming adapter (downstairs family room) that communicates to
the router for ReplayTV (RTV) Guide updates and software updates. I just
bought an X-box (family room) that I want to receive DHCP from the router
but the WGA54G is being used by the RTV and can only have one RJ45
connection into it.

I tried connecting a HUB to the WGA54G RJ45 and connecting the RTV and Xbox
into the Hub figuring that it wouldn't work (I also tried the uplink on the
hub) and I was right. I then tried an auto-sensing Switch and that did not
work either.

Now, I have the following hardware that was replaced by the wireless
hardware. I have a BEFSR41 Linksys router and a WEP11 Linksys AP. I
haven't tried the WEP11 AP because I believe it needs to plug directly into
a non-wireless router and then it can communicate to wireless clients (e.g.
that's why the WRT54G replaced the old Router and AP - combined two into
one).

SO - I AM STUCK. Ack. What can I do to get both the RTV and Xbox to receive
a DHCP IP from the WGA54G??

Sorry for LONG explanation. Thanks in advance for your replies! I
appreciate it!!

I believe your wep11 will work as a bridge client in your config.... check
the configuration settings - i sold mine so i dont remember but im sure it
had a mode setting for that.

So would I connect the WEP AP in bridge mode to the WGA or just use the WEP
AP in bridge mode - right? I have other clients that work off the wireless
router upstairs, so the clients would just connect to the AP right? If so,
there goes my 54G connection.

Let me rewrite this because it didn't make a lot of sense.

So would I connect the WEP AP in bridge mode to the WGA or just use the WEP
AP in bridge mode to connect to the WRT54G router and not use the Wireless
Game Adapter at all? I have other clients that work off the wireless router
upstairs, so the clients would just connect to the AP right? If so, there
goes my 54G connection. Let me know - thanks.

Yes, the WET would replace the WGA.

Isn't that what my WGA54G is - a tiny AP? What's can't I use that with a
hub, switch so it will offer clients a way to connect to the wireless router
upstairs in the office to get an IP?

No, your WGA54G is a tiny WEP. And it appears that it's restricted to
being a wireless client for one MAC address. I believe others have
mentioned something similar about these game adapters. If you need to
connect more than one device to a wireless network, you'll need a
wireless bridge, or a wireless access point in bridging mode...

Here's a picture, which I hope will help you understand. Sell
your WGA game adapter to a friend, or on ebay. By the way, the WET is
not an access point; it's a client bridge.

Thanks. I didn't know this about the WGA54G.
