Can I choose a server to be a primary server?

I have 2 domain controllers. One is fast machine with RAID drive and
another is rather old one used as a backup. I use DFS to replicate data on
servers and I assign network drives to domain shares (not specific DC
shares). When I look at DFS at client side, most likely they are allocated
to older slower machine after user logon. Is there any way to force domain
network shares to be allocated to some particular computer? Same applies to
SYSVOL for roaming profiles. It tends to choose older and slower machine in
most cases.

Sure, but it's kind of tricky. YOu have to play around wtih the SRV weights
and priorities. That's done in the registry.

Elaborate on which DCs hold which FSMO roles:

(Found in Schema Snapin - tricky to get here. Let me know if you need help
with this)
1. Schema Master

(Found in Domains and Trusts):
2. Domain Name Master

(Found in ADUC, rt-click domain, Operations Master
PDC Emulator
RID Master
Infrastructure Master

Also post the following:
1. Unedited ipconfig /all
2. Name of the AD zone (domain name)

The following is some info on weights and priorities and how to optimize
them. But from what I can see, optimizing the roles may be a better bet.
Post back those results, please.
