Has anyone got firmware version 1.03.07C (emphasis on *C*) for this
wireless access point?
I'm currently using version 1.03.07A, and can only get the equivalent of
about 5mbps at best, between the access point and the Intel 2200BG
wireless NIC in my laptop, and this is with "excellent" signal strength
(the access point is in the adjacent room to the laptop).

Speed issues with the 1.03.07A firmware are well documented on Usenet,
but you can only get version 1.03.07C by contacting 3Com, and their
website is a nightmare.

If anyone here has a copy of the said firmware, could they please e-mail
me or reply to the group? I would be most grateful. I'm not too keen on
downgrading the firmware, for security reasons amongst other things.

Thanks in advance,

Anton

I tried to upgrade to 1.03.07A and nothing would connect at all even
when I disabled all the security features so it would appear that
something is awry with this version. I have not found any references to
version 1.03.07C. Can someone post a reference please and is anybody
using 1.03.07A without problems?

TIA

The 2200bg gets a lot of bad posts as well

I'd already done what the 3Com site suggests and configured the 2200BG
to use maximum power.
The only other problem I've had with the 2200BG was with my mate's
802.11g wireless router (not sure of make, probably cheapo) where the
NIC would drop the connection every few minutes. Worked fine when I
forced it to use 802.11b mode.

It doesn't drop the connection with the 3Com access point, it's just
slow. I really don't think that the 2200BG is the culprit, because it's
got to be one of the most widely used and supported wireless NICs out
there, as it's part of the "Centrino" gubbins.
