Hello,
Last week I posted a similar message here, but the goal was maybe not so
clear. I cannot imagine, that nobody else has these requirements:
In the meantime I have searched the internet and found some routers, which
might be able to:
1. establish an internet connection by receiving a normal phone call (=
callback)
2. register its current IP address at a dyndns server.
With this, one could easily phone his home (or a machine in a factory), wait
until the computer is connected with the internet and has registered its IP
address and finally access the home computer (or machine in the factory)
via VNC etc.
There are some routers around, which have the needed features:
callback
dyndns
dnat
But it seems, that dyndns is only triggered, if a client computer makes a
request to the internet. From all the data sheets, it is not clear, if it
works this way.
I already realised this with a normal linux computer plus isdn card
(according to an article of the german computer magazine c't).
I would appreciate very much, if someone could tell me, if he had already
realised this with a router box.
Greetings
Ernst
