I have a Win2k3 server running DNS, two computers added to the AD and 4
computers setup outside the domain in a workgroup, for some reason the server
has an IP address cached somewhere for one of the computers inside the domain
which is not actually that machines IP address. I checked the lmhosts file to
see if it was an entry in there and that was blank as it should be, I also
checked the arp cache and it's correctly determined the mac address and IP of
the computer, however when I do a simple ping to the computers name it's
resolving to the incorrect IP address. Does anyone have any ideas thoughts on
this? BTW it should probably be mentioned that the Server has a static IP,
the others are all obtaining an IP from another DHCP server.
Thanks in advance.

Do you see this erroneous IP address in DNS on the server? Is the client set
up with DHCP, and is it automatically updating itself in DNS? What is
running DHCP server on your network?
