cabling type for 1000mbs network hardware

Hi..

Will CAT 5e cabling be ok with 1000mb connections or is is best to use CAT 6 ?

I haven't had any trouble using Cat5e, and my understanding is that it's
supposed to work. My longest run is only about 75 feet, though -- I
don't know whether it would remain problem free if I were pushing the
limits.

But the incremental cost of 6 isn't all that large, either. You might
consider using 6 for the runs that would be difficult/expensive to
replace if it later became an issue.

I have successfully updated 35 PC's using a mixture of XP and Win 2k
connecting to a new server with gigabit card installed. All access at 1000mb
over cat5e. I do install Cat6 when new cable is needed.
