Hi,
Basically my question is "How do I setup an ADSL Modem/router to a switch?"

I have a server with 2 NIC's installed, an ADSL Modem Router and aa 12 port
Switch.
Could someone tell me which CAT 5 cables go where please.
I have a small patch lead to connect the Modem Router to the switch but I am
not sure if all other cables go to the switch or do some go to the Modem
Router?

O/S on the server is SBS2008 and all client pc's (5 of) have Vista Business
installed.

Regards

John

Hello John,

If possible do not multihome your server, different ip addresses on the 2
NIC's, ALL machines connect to the switch and the switch connect to the router
with the routers internal switch port, the external port from the router
connect to the internet.

Best regards

Many Thanks,
I have only 1 NIC with an IP address, the other NIC is now disabled. All
client systems and the server are connected to the swith. the switch is then
connected to the router using a small patch lead.
Is this ok?

Regards

John

Hello John,

Server with one NIC disabled is fine. All on the switch also. And switch
to the router, yes. Make sure to use the correct ports on the router that
you have not the WAN port connected to LAN. You should be able to ping www.google.com
for example from a workstation.

Best regards
