Hi there,

I'm going to install cat5e cable in my home office (3 PC
peer-to-peer), to replace the ancient coaxial installation. I'm
going to use three cheap LAN cards and a DSL/Cable router, is this
the right kit to share a cable BB connection and share files on
the LAN?

Any suggestions as to where I can get the cable by the meter, the
RJ45 plugs and a cheap(ish) tool, white cable would be nice but
grey will do. I need around 30-40 metres and don't mind putting
the cables together myself. I have found a couple of suppliers
but they only supply 100m rolls and I'll probably never use it
again.

btw I don't want to go wireless.

Thanks,

--
Ian

While feeling slightly embarrassed to suggest it, you can get a LAN cabling
starter kit from B&Q for about £30 including junction boxes and 50m of cable
etc. - bought one to wire up my student son's pad with his mates.

Cheers, Mike
