Hi all,

I read about a Linux-utility that can detect whether a network cable has been
plugged in/"out" the network-card, and can then run some setup scripts.
I did unfortunately forget to bookmark the page, and cannot find the app
again.

Anyone ? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Evert

It may be "mii-tool". Works on most PCI controllers.

In addition to the obvious mii-tool, if you need to have automatic interface
up/down according to the plugging state, have a look at ifplugd
<http://www.stud.uni-hamburg.de/users/lennart/projects/ifplugd/>.

I'm using it on my Debian Woody laptop, so it can be used alternating
between wired and wireless LAN connection.
