Hi,

I was using comcast cable USB connection for last 2
months. Yesterday I downloaded drivers for my ethernet card
(which i did for no reason) and after that I was not able
to connect to internet through USB. I then tried through
Ethernet and didn't work. Comcast asked me to ping yahoo
ip address from dos prompt and it worked. So he says modem
and connection are fine and i have to reinstall windows
98. Is that the only way to recover. I disabled the
ethernet device that i installed. Still no luck. Thanks in
advance for any help provided.

Matt

If you can PING to outside by IP address the connectivity is there. Can you
PING by domain name? If so, the issue is with your browser. If not, the
issue is with you DNS settings.

Sometimes removing TCP/IP and reinstalling solves problems like this.

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't ping by domain name. I
tried removing and reinstalling TCP/IP but didn't work.
Then I made my new Harddisk as primary master with fresh
install of win98 and loaded Ethernet driver and it started
working. But still I would like to work with USB
connection (i feel that was faster). Is there any driver
required for USB cable modem. I found the following
adapter name in the device manager= COM21DP1110USB.

Thanks
