c++ for sending mails

I need a small c++-program that sends a mail via smtp server. I googled and
found some examples, but they didnt compile on linux

I would really apreciate any links to a send-mail-by-smtp-c++-code working
for linux. (Libsmtp is overkill for me, and didnt compile either

research socket programming and SMTP commands.
