Bulldog launch PAYG 4 megabit broadband package

United Kingdom
Written by Net 4 Nowt

Bulldog, the LLU (Local Loop Unbundling) broadband and phone
company owned by Cable and Wireless, is shaking up the UK telecoms
market again with the introduction of the first pay-as-you-go (PAYG) 4
Megabits per second (meg) broadband plus phone service.

With Bulldog PAYG, users pay only for the time they spend online,
as they are used to with PAYG dial-up packages, whilst enjoying
phenomenal speeds of up to 4 meg.

Bulldog's new time-metered services, Start@ctive and Call@ctive,
were specifically designed for the budget-conscious home user who wants
the benefits of superfast broadband but with the flexibility of a
pay-as-you-go, time-metered service. Unlike many other internet
providers who offer low speed services with download caps, Bulldog's
service has uncapped downloads, at blistering speeds - up to 4 meg
(nearly 80 times faster than a dial-up connection). Bulldog's
uncapped download offer also takes away the uncertainty and concern
that many customers express associated with how much they have actually
downloaded.

"Up until now, customers who wanted to experience the excitement
of a 4 meg broadband service had to pay a substantial premium over the
cost of standard broadband. Bulldog's new, flexible, time-metered
offering will further fuel the growth of broadband in the UK by giving
customers even more affordable broadband, and more importantly,
broadband that they control," said Richard Greco, CEO of Bulldog.
"Those customers thinking about upgrading from dial-up, or upgrading
their download capped broadband service to a service offering the
ultimate speed of up to 4 meg, will find Bulldog's pay-as-you-go
offer a logical choice. And, customers who aren't 'heavy'
internet users will find Bulldog's time-metered service an excellent
value for money."

Bulldog's pay-as-you-go broadband service is available in two
versions. Bulldog Start@ctive is designed for the budget conscious user
and costs only £15.50 per month, including VAT, and includes a
superfast broadband connection at up to 4 Meg, with 400 online minutes
included each month. Extra time is charged at 2.5p per minute.
Bulldog's Call@ctive service is designed for people who want
superfast broadband and unlimited phone calling throughout the UK. For
only £21.50 per month, including VAT, the customer receives a
broadband connection at up to 4 Meg, with time on the internet charged
at 2.5p per minute, as well as unlimited calls to UK and local,
including local and national numbers.

As a special introductory offer for customers signing up in
February, Bulldog is offering unlimited internet time online for six
months on both the Start@ctive and Call@ctive services, and is waiving
the first month's fee.
