Hello,
I'm using SuSE 8.1 pro, and I recently changed from an
ISDN modem to an ADSL router.
My box is dual boot with Win XP, and I found that
using even local networking is a lot slower
under Linux (2.4.sth from SuSE) than under XP.
While trying to isolate this under Linux I stumbled
into the following: the time needed for netstat -r
is just over 20 secs when I don't move the mouse.
When I move the mouse, it goes down to 0.6 secs,
see below.
Surfing the internet has the same difference:
as long as I move the mouse the speed is as expected
for my ADSL connection. Without mouse movement
there is a sluggish delay, after which the data
suddenly appears...
With ISDN, I've never had anything like this: always
normal speed.
Is this a known bug, and when so, is there a fix?
When not, is there anything I can do about it?
Should I evt. report this to SuSE?
I did fiddle around quite a bit in Yast for the
DSL setup (not needed for a router) and with
the firewall, however, these do not seem to
be the problem.
Kind regards,
Ype
