BT reckon that 97% of people who are connected to an ADSL enabled
exchange are able to receive the service if they want it.

judging by the number of posts on forums it seems that receving ADSL
is a lot tougher than BT is leading people to believe.

what does everyone think of this?

to me it seems that BT is getting this 97% figure by judging how the
number households within a 6km radius.... when we all know what
distance is not the issue, it's the line quality. I'm 3.2km from the
exchange and failed!!

Just start complaining that your vioce service is grainy, or youre getting
less than 28.8k (the new oftel low limit) and they should repace or repair
your line

I would not go down the road of telling them that something is wrong if
it is not. They will now charge you for a callout if you report a fault
and the engineer finds everything is working OK.

But it is so bloody frustrating........!? 3Km from exchange - Unacceptable
Db loss....!?

As I have said earlier I can appreciate that service is not straight line
defined, but there must be some convoluted routes out there.....!
