For some years I have used the news.btinternet.com news server with a PAYG
dialup account, but I can no lnger connect.

When I ping this domain name using my dialup connection I get 'destination
unreachable'. news.btopenworld.com is the same

Have there been any fairly recent changes to the BTinternet settings.

Thanks for you reply

OK arguably OT but as a broadband user I like to keep my old dial up email
address active by making the occasional connection.

I have found that I now have to use a new phone number. With the old number
the modem syncs, the password is accepted but all further internet access is
blocked.

I subsequnetly found that if I tried to access a Web page all I got was some
warning page which did not tell me the likely root cause of the problem, but
did offer to run some software to check the internet settings. My Vista
security blocked that!

Ah - I see. I thought you meant changes to the news setup.
