BTHomeHub and WEP problem

Hi

I have now come across two instances where a wireless USB adapter will
not connect to a WEP enabled BTHomeHub, but will connect to an
unsecured wireless router. Both PCs were running XP SP2 and all
settings are fine, wireless enabled laptops connect with the Hub no
problem. It may well have more to do with Windows XP than the
BTHomeHub but it does seem a strange coincidence. Has anyone else come
across this problem, and can anyone hazard a guess as to what the
problem may be?

David

First of all why are you using WEP when you could be using WPA encryption?

Have you tried using a HEX key?

I had similar problems with a laptop that would connect to a router using
WEP, but refused to connect when using WPA.

Replacing the manufacturers wireless drivers with the lastest avilable from
Intel's site cured the problem.

I ahve come across this problem with Liveboxes, as they broadcast both the
wep and the wpa encryption, and negotiate for the highest level of security.
However, it usually screws up windows wireless config. Maybe the bt homehub
does the same.

Who said he had WPA available? Maybe he is using some older card and
software that only does WEP?
