I am thinking of moving to BTBroadband, does anyone know if they offer
a non binaries Usenet server ?

news.btinternet.com ? Not sure if it works at 100% but there are free usenet
servers out there:
nntp.aioe.org - http://news.aioe.org is a good server.
and news.albasani.net - http://news.albasani.net/index.html.en You'll need
to email them and they will send you a username and passord. I've had no
problems.

BT now use the Giganews servers so all binaries are their, well they
were the last time I looked.

Yes, they do - news.btinternet.com - which is now outsourced from Giganews.
