Hi,
One possibility is that BT never performed the test. When you apply for
broadband, BT will consult their existing records about your line to decide
if it is suitable. Sometimes these records can be wrong, due to some
operator mis-typing the data or similar. As Sunil says, try a smaller ISP
such as A&A, Zen, Nildram or Plusnet. When you do, telephone them rather
than trying an online order, explain the situation and ask them to submit a
manual order.
All this means is that the ISP will hassle BT to perform the line check even
if their database shows that your line is too far from the exchange. There
is no garentee that this route will work, but it's worth trying, and costs
nothing if you fail the test.
