My BT Voyager 2110 always used to reconnect automatically within a few
seconds whenever it lost sync, but since early June it has stopped doing so.
Now I have to access the router's control panel and click the connect button
to get my internet connection back whenever it drops. This doesn't seem to
be the case when I log in to the BT test server or my ISP's test account,
however - it's only when logged in using my normal user name and password
that this happens.
I've tried a second 2110 and a BT Voyager 220V (with unlocked firmware
3.03c) and get the same problem with both of them as well. I've also tried
updating my router's firmware from 2.21 to the latest version 3.03c. That
didn't fix the problem, but did improve things (when using 2.21 I couldn't
even reconnect manually until the router was rebooted - now I can).
My old ADSL modem (Speedtouch 330) has no problem reconnecting if set to
redial on disconnect.
Has anyone else had a problem like this? Is it a router problem or an ISP
problem? I'm with Pipex using their "Midi" ADSL Max service. Typically,
Pipex support blame the routers and BT Voyager support blame the Pipex
servers.
