How long should it take for the bt speedtester to complete ?
Over the last few months I have tried it at various times of the day
and also during the night.

I gets to the page "testing please wait" No of threads 4!
after 25 mins the progress bar gets to 96% and then stops, this
morning it was at 96% at 0905 and was still there at 1330 when I gave
up. I have never yet got this speedtester to complete has anyone got
any ideas what may be the problem.

Walter

It's notorious for doing things like that.
Someone may be along in a minute to explain why?

George

Just tried that Alan.
It gave me 4216 kbps downstream 294.5 kbps upstream

Whereas http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/ less than 2 minutes later gave me
6168, 371 respectively. Comments !

mybroadbandpc 6856/384

thinkbroadband 5937/378

I don't care any more. I can get West Ham and my other half can get Man
U at the same time every time on P2P that is good enough.

Obviously I am not with Tiscali or TalkTalk. I am with Newnet (8Mb) and
take 99.999% reliability and pretty good speeds 24/7 as a given.

It's notoriously bad. Persist.

It's most likely it's your ISP that's fraudulent.

BT. Figures. Get a decent one and NEVER use 'their' email addresses, so
you can them swap ISPs at will.

Handy tip. Good ISPs only require 1 month contracts.

A one month contract does not mean they are a good ISP, be careful not true
in all cases.

(I'm on a 3 month notice contract.)
