BT Reconnection query

Hi - I'm sure this type of question must have been answered before, but
my googling doesn't reveal the solution!

I am an NTL phone and dial-up customer. I'm very happy with the phone
service (some people are easily pleased), but feel I could do better with
my internet, particularly with the forthcoming price increase. I have 2
NTL lines, one of them is only used for the dial up.
I have a redundant BT line attached to my house from a pole in the road,
which was disconnected about 15 years ago.
NTL do not offer broadband services down my street, and "have no plans to
do so in the near future" (LE3 postcode).

I am considering getting BT to reconnect their line and use it purely for
ADSL.

Will BT be interested? How much is the likely cost for the reconnection?
Any other thoughts?
(I am in a Pipex wireless service area - but guess the costs would be too
high for a home user?)

Mike - Leicester

I think at the moment you can reconnect for free providing the line was not
disconnected due to non-payment of bill.

I did this while ago, as long as the line is still there its free, assuming
you weren't cut off for non payment. Otherwise it was £150 for a new line
to be re-run.

After careful thought and consideration Mike Gayler typed:

Would you not then be paying two lots of phone line rental, one to NTL and
one to BT?
