I am moving into a property with a disconnected BT line from the previous
tenants (the line is still physically connected and there is a box on the
wall)

A few years ago, when this was the case, connection was free and you were
subject to 3 month minimum term.

Is this still the case?

Darren

They will ask for money.
Get Prices and connection times from the Cable firm as well.
Try to get BT then to beat the cable company. Tell them if they want you as
customer it as to be free.
Mind you they are in India and hard to understand.

No, it's 12 months minimum contract now.

The good news is they will give you "free" evening and weekend calls
"free" for that.

The bad news is you can't use any of the combined bb+calls packages from
other suppliers.

Two years ago - wire had been disconnected, coiled up and and left at
the top of the telegraph pole. They reconnected me for free, subject to
a 12 month minimum term.

Not entirely free. It's about 5p for an evening call up to an hour unless
you subscribe to a higher package.

Last time I checked they wanted £100+ (same as a new line) but if you're a
current BT customer I expect they'll transfer you.
