Has anyone any idea how quickly BT engineers will release a BB line so that
a new ISP can enable it for their system? I am currently waiting for line
release after cancelling a 256K BB Tiscali package, Tiscali have
disconnected, but the line has not yet been freed so that Plusnet can can
enable it for their 2Mb package. Who can I chase up if the freeing isn't
forthcoming?

Do you still have a contact with Tiscali? - if not you can only
realistically chase Plusnet. They is turn must get BT to do their
thing.

It normally takes BT Wholesale about a week to fully remove ADSL from a
line - they give priority to connecting new customers and not disconnecting
old ones.

If it hasn't been done during this period.. if anyone can help it will be
your old ISP.

Regards
Sunil

Hi,

From entering a cease order into BT's system it is usually 5 working days
to remove the ADSL service from the line. Once this is complete it isn't
unusual for it to take a couple of extra days or more for the record that
ADSL was on the line to clear off of all of BT's databases to allow a new
order to be placed.

Dave,

Thanks for that Dave your guys have told me they are keepimg an eye on my
line to see when it clears . So if the ADSL hasn't been removed from my
line in 5 days I shall first check with my old ISP first to see if they have
in fact contacted BT to release the line .

So it could be that I will notice the release of my line, from my BB modem,
before Plusnet become aware of it. So if I do it may save time if I contact
Plusnet then.

Yes, we will normally recheck it every few days to see if we can put the
order through. If you contact your old ISP they may be able to give you a
BT reference number so you can follow the cease on BT's website.

There's a link on the following page

While your modem still has sync then the ADSL service is still on the
line, as soon as you lose sync let us know and we can retry the order.
Although it may take a couple of days for the databases to catch up, you
can check this at www.bt.com/broadband

This is the umpteenth time I quoted this on this ng, but I think you'll
find it very useful in determining what progress is being made:
https://www.cs-server1.bt.com/hhway-...UM=YYYYYYYYYYY

- where the 'xxxs' are the a/c no. on your BT bill (2 letters, 8 digits)
and the 'yyys' your phone no. with area code.

Then click on the order no., and you'll get another screen of info.
