BT line for ADSL?

I've read here in the past that it may be possible when ordering a BT line
to request that it will be for ADSL use: if ADSL cannot be provided then the
line may be cancelled.

This sounds a bit unlikely to me. Has anyone managed to cancel a newly
activated line on the basis that ADSL could not be provided?

Gareth.

I haven't tried it personally, but it is possible and it works - as long as
you mention it while ordering your new line and BT add that information to
the order notes.

The other alternative is that some ISP's (A&A come to mind) are taking part
in a BT trial, where the ISP orders a new telephone line and ADSL for you -
both to be installed by BT at the same time.

Regards
Sunil

Legally,
If you specify that this line is to be added PURELY for an ADSL purpose,
then if it cannot be provided on the line then they have sold you a product
not fit for the purpose that it was bought. In that situation, you are
entitled to a full refund and no costs.

no, because the aDSL worked. But I did stipulate that the line was
required for ADSL and it was on the order and the engineer's
instructions.

I posted a link the other day to a letter that was from the Chief Executive
of BT stating how to go about ordering a new line specifically for ADSL.

http://groups.google.co.uk/groups?hl....ifl.net#link1

Can't be that unlikely!!

Just make sure you specify the new line is for ADSL only.

Steven.
