Briefly assisting a friend set up his new BT Fusion system the device
appeared to have the address of 192.168.1.254 and networked computers
were allocated addresess below this number.

I initially tried to alter the address but due to lack of time stayed
with what worked.

Is it normal for BT routers to have a local address higher than the
network cards.

Seems to be. No reason for them to be lower or higher though so
doesn't really matter. I tend to use blocks of 64 up and down the
range fr different things, like a block for printers, block for
servers, block for routers\access points etc...

Does seem strange appearing to default to a high IP address, didn't seem
to be able to alter it easily either but, as said, not too much time.
