Currently I have friends waiting on the Cheltenham exchange for
Broadband connection since early Feb.

The exchange has ports available but there is problem on Virtual
paths, this has been promised to be fixed on various dates, the
status changes from red to green, then goes back to red again, and it
now says will be cleared on 6th April, any one know why they cannot
fix it in one go and if it will solve the problems of people waiting
for connections.

I also have friends waiting for connection on Stewkley exchange, this
time it is ports shortage, but there is no date for upgrade, does
this mean that only until someone cancels their broadband that they
then might get connected, but there must be others waiting, so is
there any way of finding out how long the waiting list is ?

With all the broadband expansion, you would have thought that BT would
keep up with the demand for ports and paths.

It would be any ISP (probably not those with LLU ie own equipment in
the exchange) as it is the exchange that has the problem of capacity.

"It would be any ISP"

those using Datastream have their own VPs.

If all your "friends" are waiting for a particular ISP it may be a
different issue - it isn't unknown for some people to get connected up
while others are waiting.
