I am having a problem with my BT broadband conection. I can surf the
web fine and the conection is nice and fast (~1.5mbps). However, as
soon as I try and upload any files above a certain size the conection
dies and I have to re-start the computer to get it back.

I am prity sure that it is not a virus as I have F-secure running and
other spyware protection. I have recently up graded from a BT wired
router to a Netgear wireless router, and that is around the time that
this problem started. I have check that the firm ware is upto date on
the router, are there any network or firewall (windows) settings that I
need to check.

What level of signal are you getting on your computer? If it's low it
may be dropping out occasionally but quickly reconnecting. That would
fit with the problem only showing when you're transferring files above a
certain size.

Since you've narrowed down the problem to your now using a wireless
connection, why not used a wired connection when uploading those files
aacs? Alternatively, ask in a networking ng about fixing the problem
with the wireless connection. Actually, thinking about it my son had a
similar problem (We use a Netgear DG834) when transferring files to/from
his laptop on a wireless connection.
