Hi there,

I have BT broadband, and a wireless network based around a Netgear DG834G
router.

I've just signed up for BT Broadband Talk and have been sent a BT Voyager
V10 wired router.

I had trouble following the set-up diagram to get these 2 bits of kit to
work together.

Can it be done?

If so, which of the two routers should establish the dial-up connection, and
how should I cable them?

TIA,

Fred.

Does your Netgear have ethernet sockets? How is your PC currently
connected? Do you have more than one PC? If it is ethernet and just one
PC just put cable from PC into the Network socket of the 10V and a cable
from the Netgear to the Internet port.

Then go to www.bt.com/bbv to set it up

The problem is that you have 2 ADSL routers (which begs the question
why?), what you really need, to do what you want is 1 ADSL router &
possibly a switch, if you require extra ports, trying to use the DG834G
as a switch, though it may not be impossible isn't going to be one of
the easiest things in the world to do..

To go the way you (apparently) want to go you would use the Voyager V10
as your ADSL termination & then connect the switch to that...

Hi, sorry, you don't fully understand the hardware Fred is using.

The 10V is a router, but not a ADSL router. It can also be set as a
bridge. So Fred just needs to set it up as i have mentioned above

Thanks for that, it's not at all clear on the BT pages & everytime I
click on a link to go deeper it wants me to sign up for the blasted
service.....
